Behind the Screen column: Over the last few years, most of us have called a major American travel company and spoken to someone in Bangalore, Mumbai, or Manila. Political correctness may have prevented travelers from discussing this issue publicly, but their quietly growing frustration has only hurt the same travel companies that made the decisions to off-shore customer service in the first place.

Does anything quite prepare you for an adventure in Africa; quite simply, nothing can, as my experience on Acacias overland South West Safari would lead me to discover. Our tour through Southern Africa began in Zambia and on arrival into Livingstone we were transferred to our accommodation on the banks of the Zambezi River, a few miles upstream from the Victoria Falls. Arriving in plenty of time before the tour began I made the most of the opportunities available in the area this being one of Africas adventure capitals offering a range of activities, from bungee jumping to sunset cruising.

Next week I’m going to Utah to interview for a job teaching at a junior high there. I have decided to take my children with me and make it a mini vacation. Luckily I have friends in the area and the trip won’t cost much other than food or gas.
The trick is that I have a children ranging in age from 5 to 12 who will be traveling with me in my little Dodge Stratus. I am trying to figure out ideas to keep them entertained. Since space is at a premium, my ideas are as follows:
* Begin with a clean car so the children have the most room possible
* Take a small cooler that will fit under the feet of the youngest child. Fill it with partially frozen water bottles and healthy snacks such as grapes and frozen gogurts.

Hi,Does anyone have any suggestions for short, organized tours in Morocco? I’m only going for a week but would like to incorporate a few days with a group, maybe in the desert or at least in a more rural area (not Marrakesh or Casablanca).
